Drawing on a number of data sources, it examines the specific practices that are most effective in the task of faith formation. Though our primary focus is on family life, parents cannot do it alone. They not only need guidance and moral support but—as this report will show—they need programmatic support from their congregations as well. The key ingredients for passing on the faith are devoted parents embedded in strong, active church communities where pastors and leaders take faith formation seriously.
